A DiVine history.
Born out of a passion to create domestic ultra-premium vodka from grapes, DiVine Vodka, hit the spirits market this past year with competence and ultimate staying power. Unlike most luxury vodkas that are imported, DiVine is the first and only 'estate vodka' to be distilled and bottled in the United States and made from grapes. Specifically, it is produced in one of the Midwest's richest fruit belts--Southwest Michigan--using grapes harvested from the Lake Michigan Shore AVA (American Viticultural Area). Not only is it truly unique for premium vodka to be produced in the U.S.A. but more importantly, distilled from grapes instead of grains or potatoes.Drawing on tradition, Master Vintner and Distiller Matthew Moersch takes pride in hand-crafting the product in their European copper pot still. He and his staff are "hands-on" for the entire process from harvesting grapes to distilling to bottling. Then each bottle is personally signed by Moersch or by the founder of DiVine, Dave Otis of Chicago.
Otis is a Chicago entrepreneur, owner of a national paper company and a self-proclaimed vodka lover. He noticed the huge void in the ultra-premium domestic vodka category because there are so few. Otis explains, "Most vodka is imported so I thought that the market could use a domestic-made luxury vodka; and not from grain or potato, but from something alluring and romantic like grapes."
